Saturday July 27, 2002 numerous members of the Brown Family made the trip out to North Bloomfield to make, and celebrate History. The North Bloomfield Historical Society, coordinated by Roger Peterson, completed a project that was over 8 months in the making. The Ohio Bicentennial Commission, along with the Ohio Historical Society, and the Ohio Department of Transportation, to celebrate Ohio's Bicentennial, presented the Ohio Corporate Limit Marker program. This is a 44" x 48" cast plaque in the shape of the State of Ohio, that would hold a fact of information  that motorists, as they pass through towns of Ohio  would find of interest. We, at the Society, decided it was a great way to commemerate, and show our appreciation to Ephraim Brown, and his lease agreement to the Township. The total Cost of the Plaque was $1475.00, a grant for $700.00 was applied for, and recieved by Roger Peterson. The rest of the money was raised by different Bloomfield citizens.
In 1828, at the cost of $1.00, The Common was leased from Ephraim Brown to the Township for a term of 1000 years. Among other items in the lease agreement, "Any member of the Brown Family has the right to graze their sheep in the Common".
In the Sunday Warren Tribune, different members of the Brown Family were interveiwed and showed thier approval of the Plaque.
We, at the Society want to thank the Brown Family for coming out and sharing this beautiful day... in their Common.
